By way of Introduction...
Uncle Jan was a writer and also my grand aunt Julia Tulkens. So, I started also with writing. First a few short poems, after that a childbook and a few children stories. So I came to the first publication of my book 'Forbidden Love', a non-fiction story about a love drama that I went through. I was with this book on the Belgian book fair of Antwerp in the year 2004.

 Alex is in the Belgian newspaper 'het laatste nieuws' with an article about his book 'Forbidden Love'.

All preparations are done for the second book of Alex that will come out next month: 'Rice pudding with Golden spoons'. A book for children about life after death; but in such a funny way that, God and Jesus get caught up in the most absurd situations.

 The Belgian school: 'St-Jan Berchmans College' at the city St-Truiden made with their students a book review about the book 'Rice pudding with Golden spoons', from Alex. The whole book was read to the class. Afterwards, the whole class made a giant drawing of it. See here the pictures.

 The book 'Rice Pudding with Golden Spoons', is available now. (English) The book is based on the Dutch version of: 'Rijstpap met Gouden Lepeltjes'. The book is available in A5 paperback, as pocket and as EBook. The books have ISBN nrs: 978-1-257- 97197-8 and 978-1-257-97231-9. The difference with the Dutch version is that this English version have a longer story and more illustrations. (illustrations done by Alex Mensaert and Jamile Peixoto - see below for the new illustrations belonging to this book)

 Around the world
without legs and one arm

As a legless amputee and only with one arm, Alex got invited by a friend to the USA. There he get married by a woman who is a big drunk and who love male amputees. But he get deported and end up in Brazil, where he lives in the dangerous Favela from Rio de Janeiro where he takes care of many street children. He goes out with local bandits, but after many crazy adventures he end up in jail and get deported again. He find his way through many crazy situations; A crazy ex girlfriend stays hunting on him. Finally he ends up in a new life in Portugal.
